Air Gaps
Air Gaps prevent stormwater backflow from entering your tank - ensuring your water supply is not contaminated.
If there is a stormwater backup caused be heavy rain or blockages in your local stormwater network, water can flow up your overflow pipes towards your tank. The Air Gap's open mouth is a physical break in the line, which means that this backflow water will flow out of the opening rather than make it to your tank.
