Keeping your tank ventilated helps to protect your rainwater quality – but only if you can also keep mosquitoes out. The Flap Valve Vent Screen lets you can do both, safely and effectively. It also prevents a vacuum forming when large quantities of water are quickly drawn from your tank.
Flap Valve Vent Screen protects your rainwater quality. The hinged “flap” or “door” features a mosquito-proof 955 micron stainless steel screen that stops mosquitoes and other pests from getting into your tank via your horizontal outlet pipes. It self-closes to seal off your tank outlets whenever water is not passing through.
The Flap Valve Vent Screen’s responsive hinged flap automatically opens to allow overflowing water to pass out of your tank at a high flow rate.
Anywhere there is a wet or charged rainwater line which is used to fill a rainwater tank, a flap valve should be used on the outlet side before the line empties into the tank. This is important to ensure mosquitos cannot enter any portion of the rainwater system.
Secure your System with Rain Harvesting Flap Valves. Securing a Flap Valve to end of your tank and downpipe outlets ensure pests and insect can’t enter your Rain Harvesting system and harm your rainwater.

Your Flap Valve is self-closing and largely self-cleaning, so it requires little to no maintenance. If maintenance is required, simply hose or brush off the flap or mosquito-proof stainless steel vented screen.
Vented and non-vented flap valves provide a self-cleaning insect-proof and vermin-proof barrier at the end of your pipework. However, vented flap valves also allow fresh air to circulate freely through your pipework and tank, a benefit not available with non-vented flap valves.
“Flap valve” and “frog flap” are interchangeable names for the same product. Both are designed to keep frogs and smaller pests such as mosquitoes out of your pipework and tank.
We recommend gluing flap valves to your pipes. Although a flap valve is an end of line component and is not subjected to pressure, it is important that all mosquito-proof barriers are secure.
